AC-7 Pro Control Logic Studio with i-Pad Review

April 11, 2010

This is one of the many reasons why the i-Pad is so brilliant! So far the only complaint that I hear about this i-Pad app is that it has problems with Pro-Tools, it seems to be running just fine with Logic.

I have no words, this is so cool! All the way from The Barbican.

The Barbican is located in the heart of the city of London and is accessible by rail, underground and road (just in case you happen to be in London, ha!).

Beat Box Pad

I’m not a big fan of Apple’s i-Pad yet, I was expecting a real computer, anyways! This is the first music related application that I’ve seen for the i-Pad, Beat Box Pad, check it out!

America Ferrera’s New Show: Zulia State City Planner?

April 3, 2010

This is another one of my posts that’s completely unrelated to music, but I couldn’t help notice the resemblance between Venezuela’s Zulia state city planner Odalis Caldera and the beloved ABC character Ugly Betty. Maybe she got her inspiration from the show, who knows? Is she aware that she looks just like Ugly Betty? We’ll never know.

Seeking a Kidney Donor

March 23, 2010

I just learned that our deer friend and great singer Pepper Swinson is in urgent need for a kidney donor. Please pass this information along.  This is the text from the Ann Ruckert music blog regarding Pepper:

Today I learned that my dearest friend, Pepper Swinson, a great singer, is in jeopardy. I met her when she became ill with lupus and had to move East, leaving her wonderful career and home in Los Angeles. She had recorded and toured there with Boz Scaggs and recorded with The Brothers Johnson, produced by Quincy Jones. She has also toured with top groups including Wilson Pickett’s band.

The lupus attacked Pepper’s kidneys. After a five-year wait, doing self dialysis (a grueling, expensive process, that’s required four times a day) she received a healthy kidney that has lasted an astonishing 17 years.

Now, due to natural causes, that kidney is failing. This time, she will have to wait five to seven years unless a donor is found. Pepper had been teaching Spanish, Latin and was choral director at a theater arts high school in the Bronx. She has had to quit work in light of her illness.

I am asking for kidney donors. As someone who loves music and the folks who make music, Pepper has made major contributions to us all—with her teaching and being a spokesperson for the New York Organ Donors Network. She has given tirelessly. I am not a match and the two others who have offered are also not viable, so we have to make bigger circles. So if you can get the word out,
God will smile.

Candidates for a kidney must be healthy and have an O Positive blood type. If you know of volunteers who fit this description, please contact Pepper at 914-355-5693 or 917-816-1549.

Making Music With Augmented Reality

March 23, 2010

Somtime in the future we’ll be producing with augmented reality music production applications, until that day comes we’ll just have to play around with this:

This is a demo of the new Wrigley’s 5 Gum Augmented Reality Music Mixer campaign which is taking AR technology to a new level by tracking multi-points at a single time allowing you to mix tracks like a virtual DJ. The best I’ve seen was the Eminem Augmented Reality competition a little while back where users could literally draw, colour, save, vote and share a virtual AR Eminem Logo. But this is pretty good too! Check out the campaign website here.

Jusntin Nozuka “My Heart Is Yours”

March 15, 2010

This guys has a really great voice, really dig it, beautiful song, this is independent artist Juntin Nozuka.  I just wish that the production would have been a little bit more updated to today’s sounds and production tricks.  Nevertheless a great song and great artist.  I couldn’t help but to be reminded of Bob Marley towards the end when the back up singers start saying Everything’s going to be alright, the melody is very similar to “No Woman No Cry”.

Enjoy!

Die Antwoord – Enter The Ninja

March 15, 2010

Is this a real band or some kind of a viral/joke fake group video? That was my reaction the first time I saw this video.  They are South Africa’s rap group Die Antwoord signed to Interscope Records.  Not only that, their next video is rumored to come under the direction of District 9’s Neill Blomkamp.

The music production on this track has some interesting twists and turns even though I can’t help but laugh every time I hear the girl singing the high pitched chorus.
